Do you know someone who needs suggestions for a gift for moms? (ummm….like a husband or mother-in-law?)

Candles

Candles always make a moment more special. In fact, Kim John Payne, author of Simplicity Parenting (a book I highly recommend, BTW), says that one way to bring reverence to important anchor points throughout our day is to add some sort of ritual. Lighting a candle is one of my top choices. To start lesson time, for mealtimes, even as a Mom to bring us fully present into the moment.

These simple yet beautiful Beeswax Candles are the perfect candles to have on hand.

Journals for Self-Exploration

If you want more me-time, writing either first thing in the morning or right before bed can be a great outlet.

Start Where You Are: A Journal for Self-Exploration is an interactive journal designed to help readers nurture their creativity, mindfulness, and self-motivation. It helps readers navigate the confusion and chaos of daily life with a simple reminder: that by taking the time to know ourselves and what those dreams are, we can appreciate the world around us and achieve our dreams. Plus, the book is beautifully designed and full of splashes of watercolor!

I’ve started using the Wellness Planner from Life & Apples. Each day has a double-page spread for writing down gratitude & affirmations, goals, meal plans, and fitness tracking. The perfect motivation for self-care and healthy living to create positive change. This is both self-expression and self-care all rolled into one.

Meditation CDs

Meditation can be challenging with a house full of kids and a mind full of plans and projects and lists of all sorts. For me, listening to guided meditations has been the answer over the years. My favorite guided meditations are from Health Journeys. You can find meditations for healthful sleep, stress relief, and so much more.

Self-Care

A Gift Certificate for a Massage or to a Yoga Class. Check locally for what’s available in your area. Sometimes you can find great deals on coupon sites like Groupon.

My favorite movement program for moms is the Healthy Moving Coaching and Challenge Program. Run by my friend Jen (who’s a Waldorf homeschooling Mom), this online program delivers four 6-week challenges each year, plus tons of support for healthy alignment and exercises through a printable, videos, and a private Facebook group. You can sign up monthly or annually. I’ve been part of this program for over four years now, and can honestly say it has helped me recover from an autoimmune flare and get my energy back.

A Good Book

Reading a novel is for sure a luxury for us homeschooling moms. For years, I only allowed myself to read fiction over holiday breaks and during the summer! But honestly, reading in the evenings or on weekends is a great way to unwind and get some downtime for ourselves.

If you want to read more regularly, check out Modern Mrs. Darcy’s book recommendations. Here is her MMD Reading Challenge. This one is a free gift you can give to yourself! Sign up and get your Reading Challenge printable with 10 categories of books to check off.

Relaxation & Good Sleep

When I was a kid, there was a TV commercial for Calgon bubble bath. The video showed a woman relaxing in the bathtub. And the memorable line was, “Calgon, take me away!

I remember thinking taking a bath was so frivolous even back then! But we all know, if Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. And finding ways to relax and improve our sleep is super important.

This is my absolute favorite bubble bath, Aromatherapy Bubble Bath. Taking a bath at night helps me to unwind and I always sleep better afterward.

These Triloka Incense Sticks are lovely to burn for upping the relaxation level in the house. Hand-made in the ancient Ayurvedic tradition with pure natural ingredients, this pack has two sticks representing each of the seven chakras to bring harmony to body, mind, and spirit.

Another product I love for good sleep is Calm Magnesium Gummies. This also comes in a powder if you prefer. These have been a game changer for me to improve the quality of my sleep.

A Homeschooling Community

If you want support on your homeschooling journey, my mentorship community is just the thing! Inspired at Home offers monthly masterclasses, weekly group coaching, and planning support. Plus an amazingly support community full of love and great idea sharing! A great professional development gift for you, and your family will benefit as well.

Family Life & Organization

This portable Mimmo Caddy is my new favorite for organizing supplies – handwork, homeschooling, office. Made from heavy-duty felt with carrying handles, they have 3 compartments (with removable dividers) and 8 pockets of various sizes for easy organization. Would be great for each child to hold all of their school supplies, books, and projects. Great for Mom to have one too!

This is the Instant Pot I just got as a gift! Whoa, what a gamechanger. More healthy, plant-based foods – vegetables, beans, grains – in less time. I sure wish they were around when my kids were younger. I’m looking forward to making more chilis, curries, and soups this winter. Yum.

Inspirational Jewelry

Anything from Soul Mantras by Liz Lamoreaux jewelry, intention bundles, books, and a talisman of the month club. All beautiful, soulful, and uplifting. I recently bought myself a Five Deep Breaths Bracelet from Liz as well as her book, Inner Excavation, with my birthday money. So sweet!
