Episode 268
When homeschooling starts to feel overwhelming, our first instinct is often to add something new. But what if you’re doing too much in your homeschool already? Sometimes the answer isn’t another activity, resource, or better schedule. Sometimes it’s simply doing less.
After more than 25 years of homeschooling, I’ve learned that pressure rarely motivates us. Progress does. And when we give our children more time to explore, practice, and make connections, meaningful learning has room to grow.
In this episode, I’m sharing how to recognize when your homeschool has become overloaded. We’ll explore why simplifying can lead to deeper learning and how to make room for the experiences that matter most.
I’m also celebrating six years of the Art of Homeschooling Podcast! It feels like the perfect time to revisit one of my favorite homeschooling mantras: Scale back until it works, and then add from there.
What if You’re Doing Too Much in Your Homeschool?
In this episode, you’ll hear:
- Why doing more doesn’t always mean better learning
- How to recognize signs of homeschool overload
- Why children need time to explore and make connections
- How to scale back and simplify your daily rhythm
- What small changes can bring more peace and deeper learning
You don’t need to fit every wonderful activity into your homeschool. Sometimes doing less gives our children more room to grow. Start with what’s working, make space for what matters, and build from there. Remember, the goal isn’t a perfect plan. It’s a homeschool that works for your family.
