The Midsummer Homeschool Reset You Didn’t Know You Needed

Episode 264

If you’re busy browsing curriculum, creating Pinterest boards, and mapping out your planner this time of year, I want to invite you to pause. Just for a moment. This is the midsummer homeschooling reset you didn’t know you needed.

Midsummer offers something we rarely have time for during the busy homeschool year: reflection and observation. Our children have grown, we’ve grown, and this little bit of spaciousness allows us to notice who our children really are today, right now.

In this episode of the podcast, I share why observation is the most important part of homeschool planning. When we begin with the child instead of the curriculum, our decisions become simpler, more personalized, and much more meaningful.

My hope is that this episode encourages you to step back, notice the growth that’s already happened, and move into or resume your planning season with fresh eyes and renewed confidence.

The Midsummer Homeschool Reset You Didn’t Know You Needed

In this episode, you’ll hear:

  • Why observation should come before curriculum planning
  • What it means to look for growth instead of gaps
  • How child development can simplify your homeschool decisions
  • Why midsummer is the perfect time to pause before planning
  • What questions to ask as you reconnect with your child
  • How observing your child leads to a more personalized homeschool
  • Why understanding your child changes the way you approach teaching and learning

Some of the best homeschool plans begin long before we sit down with a planner. They begin by watching, listening, and delighting in the child right in front of us. When we start there, planning becomes less about checking boxes and more about nurturing the unique person our child is becoming.
